Opulence - again?

I used to be on the minimal side of life.
Feeling ultra chic in black shoes, black pants, a white shirt and surprisingly topping it all of with a black jacket. Then adding a gold watch and little gold stud earings.

I was wearing these kind of combinations and thinking about how I don't want any clutter in my life and on my clothes.

I wanted to experience "the power of now" and let my personality talk and not my sequin collared blouse.

I tell you, I used to be one of these persons totally enjoying an all black outfit.

But now- it is all different!

I enter the shops and I want it all - the fur, the graphic prints, the leather gloves, red, gold, glitter - everything!

And all at once. Well, not all. Just all that kind of goes together...

This is an extreme developement  of my style, since I got a headache from wearing ankleboots with silver zippers (and I still don' understand why almost all shoes have silver zippers, did the industry forgot about all the gold jewllery wearing peole?) and gold earrings. It just doesn't bother me anymore, or no. 

I feel like this is part of the outfit now.

So maybe now it is the time to not just decorate our christmas trees but also our clothes with every nice material or print that is out there.

First German HARPER'S BAZAAR

I'm so excited that I finally got the first German Harper's Bazaar! It is definitely a good sign that famous Daria Werbowy is on the cover and that Carine Roitfeld and Karl Lagerfeld styled and photographed the main editorial. I hope the following issues can keep up with this high level.

For some background information: the editor-in-chief is Margit J. Mayer who is in a high position of the Burda Style Group. The Art-Director is Mirko Bursche who is a typograph and graphic designer. He has worked for German Zeitmagazin and SZ Magazin before. Lynn Schmidt is the new Fashion-Director and has references from the German Vogue.

MINIMALISM - the beginning

Minimal designs are back in business again. By now everyone must have recognized the revival of the significant style of the 90’s (of course there was also the grunge style- the complete opposite- but now we are talking about the “less is more” style!)

Brands like Acne, Céline, Jil Sander, Maison Martin Margiela and many more are giving us the perfect clean cuts and neutral colors back.

Calvin Klein is considered to be one of the genius founders of minimalism in fashion. In the 1960’s he was working at Seventh Avenue in New York and got famous for his creations with their characteristic clear silhouettes.

As well as Calvin Klein Giorgio Armani had a massive influence on minimalism by trying to drape his designs on the body. He created a floating look by avoiding too much structure on the fabrics.

Azzedine Alaïa brought up a different kind of “reduced silhouettes” by not adding an extra silhouette and just working with the body shape. He was the first one to work with stretchable materials and is famous for his clinging dresses.

The spotlight is on fabrics like satin, jersey, stretch and chiffon since the cut is so simple and only supports the body. The materials become their own embellishment. Even buttons were banned so that these clothes represent functionality in its most simple form.

Wahrnehmungsprobleme

Wenn man sich mit Mode und dem ganzen Drumherum, wie z.B. der Entwicklung der Mode in der Vergangenheit, Trends, Designern und dem Streetstyle beschäftigt ist das erstmal faszinierend und inspirierend. Das ist es zumindest für mich.

Die Modeindustrie ist riesig und deckt viele verschiedene Felder mit verschiedenen Stilen werden ab. Spätestens dann fragt man sich, was denn eigentlich der eigene Stil ist.

Man wird von den ganzen Designerroben in Modezeitschriften, Streetstyle Blogs und Tumblrs so inspiriert, dass man die Sachen am liebsten sofort hätte.

Ich fing also an, mir aus den vielen Quellen für Inspiration die besten Sachen zu picken und Listen zu schreiben, wozu ich sowieso neige, mit all den Klamotten und Accessoires die ich unbedingt haben wollte. So hätte ich dann den Streetstyle, der Person mit der lässigen Attitüde nachgemacht oder auch „neu interpretiert“.

Und so lief es leider (?) nicht.

Ich stand also mit der Liste im nächsten H&M oder Zara oder … und versuchte das schicke Oberteil  mit der coolen Aura zu erspähen. Nada.

Anscheinend hatte ich vergessen, dass die Klamotten relativ unordentlich zusammengepfercht waren und mit diesem „Kopfweh“- Licht angestrahlt wurden.

Irgendwann begriff ich dann, dass nicht nur Kleider Leute machen,

sondern auch Leute Kleider.

Das schicke Oberteil hätte an mir wahrscheinlich nicht nach „der coolen Person, die irgendwas aus ihrem Kleiderschrank nimmt und einfach fantastisch aussieht“ ausgesehen, sondern wohl eher nach: meine Hose und meine Schuhe mit irgendeinem neuen Oberteil.

Und eben dies ist mein Problem. Eine Person mit einem gelungen Outfit sehe ich nicht als Mensch mit meiner gut sitzenden Hose, einer Schlichte Bluse, einer auffälligeren Jacke, die die Farben der Schuhe aufgreift, abgerundet mit einem Gürtel und Ohrringen sondern einfach als Person, mit einem Outfit, dass zum Gesicht und der Figur passt und den Charakter andeutet. Man bekommt das Gefühl von Vollkommenheit.

Dieses Phänomen ist mir schon oft aufgefallen, nur noch nie bei mir. Wenn ich in den Spiegel sehe, sehe ich mich mit einer blickdichten Strumpfhose, einem Kleid, welches nicht 100% zu den Schuhen passt und meinem Übergangsmantel, den ich „schon“ 4 Monate am Stück draußen trage. Der sieht nie nach Marinestil neu interpretiert aus, sondern immer nach blauem Mantel, den ich täglich trage.

Aber vielleicht kann man sich selbst auch gar nicht in diesem coolen Schein von außehen sehen?
